Renowned as the foremost authority on the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) outside of China, Professor You Ji from the University of New South Wales makes an extremely rare visit to these shores to share his unparalleled insight into the structure, capability and development of the PLAN.

Beginning with a review of the existing fleet, the session will examine the capabilities available to the PLAN. From there we will move to an examination of current and future shipbuilding programmes, and what these programmes tell us about the likely future deployments of PLAN assets. We will conclude the session by examining the personalities and political factors that will influence the development of the PLAN over the coming decades.

This is an outstanding opportunity for delegates to get a privileged insight into what could be one of the world’s most powerful naval forces in years to come. Attendees will gain a comprehensive knowledge of Chinese naval opportunities and challenges and establish how the military systems they both produce and rely upon compare to those of this emerging power.
