The US and UK Navy forces are working to strengthen the bond between them in a new exercise, it has been reported.
Military personnel from both sides of the Atlantic are two of seven countries taking part on the Joint Warrior 09-1 exercise, which is a two-week training regime in the UK to strengthen partnerships between NATO member troops and build strategic patterns, reports Military.com.
Royal Navy officials are also visiting the US Navy's operations at Commander Strike Force Training Atlantic as part of their preparations to welcome two additional aircraft carriers to their fleet.
Captain John Kersh, commander of Destroyer Squadron 24, told the publication the bond between the US and the Royal Navy is "unbelievably strong".
He added: "We are teaming with some of our strongest allies and partners so that we can all draw upon these good feelings when we get in theatre. It's a very, very positive relationship."
The US Navy recently announced it was awarding a new contract to CSC to provide communication and media support services to its military operations.
